Carp bleed easily. They clot well enough also, but good care need to be taken in their handling. Carp are tough, and survive many traumas, including the spawn. And power dams and boat traffic, etc. This fish is bleeding from the mouth as a result of the hook. It will recover just fine. A big point is controlling carp from thrashing on the bank. They can be harmed greatly by that and bleed under the scales. That is why we use an unhooking mat especially on large fish. Throw a wet rag over their eyes as that also helps keep them in the dark when unhooking them. Careful you don't drop them during the photo shoot, and don't gill lift them. Observe the photos of specimen anglers on the net, and see that they handle their fish well. It is part of the finesse of an experienced angler.
