Light john boat. Great for skittering about the islands and skittering the shore. Open areas along the shore are often sandy and private. Bivvy with a friend and fish, cook out or swim the crystal clear water. Note the chum bucket, usually filled with shelled corn to attract carp. PVA lunch bags and PVA stringer baits are all you need most of the time. Look directly at the bottom for areas clear of weed. I use marker buoys to mark my chummed areas. I cast near them and know I am not in the weed which will amaze you the first time you boat the river. Troll motor around islands checking the bottom structure. I also use a portable hummingbird fishfinder/depth finder.
